The poet who gives his name to the town's library since 2002, Joan Vinyoli (Barcelona 1914-1984) spent his summers in Santa Coloma from the year 1922 to the year 1935. Thoses stays influenced the poet so much that the landscapes and spaces that he liked the most are reflected on his poems. For this very reason and in recognition of his work in the year 1991 he was declared adoptive son of Santa Coloma de Farners.
I walk now in the old town
while, travel to their destinies:
the old friends, the women, and the pieces
of what I was, as a boy, lost in the oak woods.
Passeig d’aniversari - Fragment Joan Vinyoli
Fun fact: the angel above the entrance of the library is also from the sculptor Martí Sabé.
